I stuck with it, but only begrudgingly.

I loathe leaving negative reviews. Generally, if I don't like something, I simply move on without comment. This series was so frustrating, because there was so much potential, but it continually failed to develop.
This series had such positive reviews, I felt sure it would be a rewarding read. Unfortunately, the books failed to make a positive or lasting impression. What started with a degree of promise, fell into predictability and got mired in a near soap opera level of histrionics.
The main characters' evolutions are painfully uneventful. The devices of tragedy, betrayal and loss are unmoving. The back-and-forth POV between Rory and Houston offer no profundity or complexity to the story. The device is merely jarring and disruptive. Neither character has a strong enough voice, motivation or information to warrant the constant shifting.
My primary problem is with the main character, Aurora. She starts out as mildly interesting, but remains so passive and milquetoast that I'm left wondering why anyone makes the effort to engage with her, let alone let her drive this series.
Despite spending so much time with Houston, the author fails to dig deeper into his character. He remains two-dimensional and vague. Aside from being boorish, wounded, good-looking and well-endowed, he offers very little enticement from a reader's standpoint.
Lastly, the language and writing style were so unabashedly bland. I got no sense of the author's voice. I feel like Leo held back. Honesty is critical in writing, as is a ferocity of conviction; neither are present here. I believe Ms. Leo is capable of more and offering better. I hope to see more thoughtful, truthful, passionate storytelling in the future.

Beyond Epic Love Story!

"I Hope it Never Ends"
Where to start? Let's see, If you are a fan of Cassia you know how intense her stories are. Her stories are all about emotions. Betrayal, lies, love, tragedy, secrets. All the real emotions that you can really relate to. "The Way We Fall" is no different.
Rory and Houston story is so complicated. Definitely life hasn't been fair with them, but there's no doubt that the still love each other so much!
The writing is amazing. Characters are strong, lovable and some you just want to slap them. That's why I love Cassia's books. Her characters are unforgettable.
"The Way We Fall" is the first book of the series and I will say this: Read it. Live it. Love it and Be ready because there is a twist you won't see coming and it's going to break your heart. I am still trying to pick all the pieces of my little heart. You have been warned.
By the way Houston is Book Boyfriend Material!

"The Way We Fall" was Amazing, but "The way We Break"? This story is going to blow your mind. So If you read the first book I know you are wondering what happened to Rory, Houston and Liam? Right? Well sorry but you are not getting any spoiler from me. I just going to tell you this : The things happening here, you won't see them coming. Mark my words. It's a Rollercoaster. Emotional, powerful, painful, intense, deep and incredible.
I am not kidding when I say You Will Love this second book and when you finish it you will want to read it again. Then You will start counting the days for "The Way We Rise"

So here we are, the last book of 'The Story Of Us' series. I'm sad because I will miss these characters. I began this journey in February with the 'The Way We Fall' and I knew back then this story was going to be one of my favorites and the characters were going to stay close to my heart forever.
If you have been reading the series you already know 'The Way We Break' ended with "Code Blue. Code Blue." A cliffhanger that left us pretty much pacing the room and again counting the days for the next book. The waiting was driving me crazy I might add.
So, what happens now?
Before you start reading the book, make yourself comfortable ( because you won't be able to put it down ), have a box of kleenex near you, lots of junk food and a good alcoholic beverage. I'm not kidding. You will need every thing i just mentioned. Do it, don't make me say "I told you so".
Houston and Rory happiness seems to be just around the corner. Is it? Can they just grab it and be HEA? Get ready then because there are still secrets to be revealed and lessons to be learned.
With each revelation, Houston is absolutely sure that they need a break.
We already know Rory and Houston story is complicated. Life hasn't been fair with them and now Houston, after everything they have been through, suggests they could be friends.
Will they friendship survive? Can they be just friends? Can they forgive and move on? Can they forget and start over? Can Houston and Rory heal their wounds and learn what's really important?

Love Love Love this Series

Book One
This is the first book in The Story of Us series and words cannot describe how much I loved this book. It is such a well-written story. When you read the last page, you will want to read it again.
It’s hard to talk about the book without giving away spoilers, so I will just tell you about the characters. Such strong characters, you cant help but fall in love with them. This is a touching story of love, loss, sacrifices, and broken hearts.
Houston is such a beautiful soul, but he has a secret that is killing him on the inside. A secret that could shatter the heart of the one girl he truly loves.
Rory and Hallie are best friends, and they have such a strong bond. They share everything, but some things just cant be shared.
Rory has loved Houston forever, even when she thought he didn't notice her. Houston is Hallie's brother and he will do anything to protect her.
You will also meet some other characters who play a big part in this book, and their lives will be affected as this story unfolds. There were parts in this book that broke my heart, and then there were parts where I laughed out loud. This is what I love about this author. She brings all these different emotions out in you.
Amazing characters and a beautifully written story. Well done, Cassia Leo. 10/10
Book Two
I loved the second part to The Story of Us series. In The Way We Fall, you get to know the characters and their story. You become connected with them, you judge them, but like any of Cassia's books, she always throws you that curve ball. And those characters that you have come to know, and everything you thought you knew, goes right out the window.
This story continues with Rory making a decision that will have a big impact on the people she loves. The people she thought she knew and loved most broke her heart in The Way We Fall. I feel for Houston in this book. He made a lot of mistakes, but he was only doing what he thought was the right thing for everyone involved. He still loves Rory with all his heart, and in The Way We Break he will do anything to get her back.
Then we have Liam, who is there for Rory. He helps ease her pain. You will get to know a lot more about Liam in this book. One of my favorite characters in this series is Kenny, and he is back. Once again, he will have you in stitches with laughter. He is the one person who Rory can lean on. He didn’t betray her and he always has her back. Even if he thinks Rory has made a mistake, he doesn’t hold back in letting her know. He is her best friend and the one person she can trust. But even Kenny has some tricks up his sleeve in this book.
There is so much I can say, but I don’t want to give anything away. I want you to experience the journey Cassia takes you on for yourself. This is a book filled with emotion, humour, excitement, forgiveness, and trust. And not to mention some hot but beautifully written sex scenes. I cant wait for the final installment of this amazing series. I’m hooked.
Book Three
What a great end to an amazing series. In this last book, everything comes together. The questions you may have, will definitely be answered.
When I think back over the previous two books in this series and now this final book, I have seen these characters grow. They’ve tackled things in their lives that would have broken most families. And yet, I think they became stronger for it.
All the characters from the previous books are back, and you learn so much more about them. I am sure those opinions you had of them will definitely change throughout this book.
I have simply loved the journey Cassia has taken us on in this series. And once again, she has bought the characters to life in her amazing storytelling. I have shed quite a lot of tears throughout this series, but I have also laughed so hard I had tears rolling down my face.
There is so much I want to say about this book, but I don’t want to give anything away. All I can say is that this was the perfect ending, and it will definitely be a series that I will read again.
